Recently, I went for a vacation to the southern state of Kerala. Also known as the God’s Own Country, the place has beautiful beaches, lovely weather and pure air.It was away from the hustle of the city and a perfect vacation to get refreshed.
My trip started with a visit to the famous Padmanabhaswamy temple which is said to be the richest Hindu temple in the world.
It was a different experience as I had to wear a dhoti to visit the temple.Women have to wear a saree or a dhoti or a full length suit to visit the temple and men are allowed only in a dhoti.
From there we headed to Ashtamudi in the Kollam District. I had my stay at the Club Mahindra Resort. The resort is located beside the mesmerizing Ashtamudi Lake.
They have these floating cottages and studio apartments with great amenities and wonderful backwaters view.
The place did not have much to stroll but the resort compensated for that. It had all that was required for a fun week. Me with my family went on a cruise ride to the Munroe Island where we had a short nature walk and enjoyed the greenery around.

We crossed the Ashtamudi lake and reached the Kallada river which flows through the Kollam district.
On the way I saw the Chinese fishing techniques which are widely used there for catching fishes. Also an interesting place known as the one family island as the name suggests there was only a single family residing at that place.
While coming back the person managing the cruise showed the leaf craft from the coconut tree leaves and also let us ride the cruise for a little while.
Coming back to the resort, as I was really tired and required something to complete my day, I went for a Spa. The resort had a Spa Centre which offers various massages. I went for a shirodhara therapy.
The next day was more of the chilling in the resort kinda day. The resort provided with various leisure activities and tourist packages. There was everything from bicycle, badminton, table tennis to kayaking, boating and a lot more.
My morning started with a coconut water and a special drink they prepared with coconut water, cream and pieces of coconut malai.

That night they had a special Goan theme dinner and the menu was full of mouth-watering delicacies.
The day ended at a good note and a stomach full of food.
Personally, I had a great experience and would love to explore more of Kerala soon.
Until next time,
The Two Crackheads:)
